Band-Aids vs Stitches

“Never think about ____ again! Outsource it and focus on growing your business! We’ll handle the rest.”

Whether it is for bookkeeping, HR, payroll, digital marketing, calendar management, etc., we’ve all seen this pitch to “escape the time crunch”. It’s a tempting offer, especially for busy entrepreneurs. Outsourcing promises quick relief from tedious tasks at a cheap price, freeing you up to focus on what you do best. But is it really the best solution for long-term growth? Here’s why building a strong internal team may be a better investment:

Understanding Your Business: The dream team you hire, train, and build relationships with is invested in your company’s success and wants to see it grow. They understand the vision, values, clients, and can speak confidently about what you do.

Commitment and Loyalty: Employees who feel valued stay and build initiative to go the Xtra Mile in their responsibilities. With outsourced talent, you're often limited to a specific set of unchanging tasks. For more information on how to Hire/Coach/Keep, check out our ongoing series here!

Future Human Capital: Each person on your team is likely sitting on untapped potential. Your investment in their skills is also an investment in your company’s future. While you may be training your rookie EA to monitor your email now, you could also be developing your future Chief of Staff as well.

Outsourcing is like putting a BAND-AID on a large wound. It might temporarily stop the bleeding, but it doesn't fix the underlying issue. Building an insourced team is like getting STITCHES. It’s time-consuming and sometimes painful, but it will stop the bleeding AND prevent long-term infection. You'll be stronger for it.

So, instead of outsourcing your way to success, invest in your people. Build a team that will grow with the business to drive it forward.
