This Email IS From Me

Last month, my work email got hacked, and here are my thoughts on the situation:

  1. It was a great day to be the tenant of an IT company! The Computer CPR team immediately got to work, allowing me access back into my account and put systems in place to prevent this cyber attack in the future. They handled the security breach with the utmost care.

  2. It’s EXTREMELY beneficial to have an SBX in my corner; while our other team members were delivering a leadership training class and I ran my weekly networking group, Krystal reprioritized her schedule and worked alongside Computer CPR to fight the fire. After I finished my meeting, all I had to do was change my inbox password, and I could move on with my day. She not only notified the 400+ people in my contact list about the breach, but educated them step-by-step on their security options if they fell for the malicious email sent from my outbox. I can't imagine having to juggle my busy schedule and this sudden disruption by myself.

  3. Speaking of support - I have the best support system of all! Family and friends went out of their way to call, text, and message me about the message ‘I sent’. It looked so legit that some people, unfortunately, fell for it.

I am also mad! Mad that someone out there phishes for other people’s information and makes money by causing them stress, confusion, and extra work. I'm so thankful to my SBX who moves things forward while I am tied down with business development activity. My company and sanity have a future because of her support.

What was the craziest thing your SBX handled for you? Or, if you are an SBX, what fire did you put out recently?
